Long Distance PregnanCy
Pregnancy involves so many emotions and any little extra stress can make a pregnancy so much more difficult. Long distant pregnancies can be very hard because you feel so many different emotions in addition to a normal pregnancy. Sometimes it’s just unpreventable especially when your spouse is in the military or has a job that involves lots of business travel.
No one ever looks forward to a pregnancy alone. A pregnancy holds so many experiences to share with your loved one. However, becoming depressed and dwelling on your loneliness won’t make the situation any better. We would all prefer our spouse to be there every step of the way, but during this difficult time try some of these tips on keeping busy and staying positive.
Clear your mind. It’s very important to unwind and find a way to relax. Try going for a daily walk, it will help you get out of the environment that keeps you thinking all the time. Walks help you circulate your blood and promote positive thinking, which naturally relieves a lot of stress. Add it to your schedule and try going at the same time everyday so you don’t forget.
Educate yourself. Take a visit to your local bookstore and read up on pregnancy and maternity fashions. It’s always interesting to read about the different stages your baby is going through. Or you can pick up on another subject that interests you like healthier cooking options, parenting techniques or tips on going green. Nevertheless, make some time to read it will not only help you to think about something else but will also give you something else to talk about.
Find a hobby. There are many different hobbies that I bet you never thought you’d enjoy doing until you became pregnant like crocheting, sewing or scrapbooking. You can make so many things if you take the time to enjoy it. A fun thing to do while pregnant is to start a baby blanket to bring your baby home in. This will really help put your focus on something else.
Network. Be sure to take a pregnancy class or join a group online like pregnancy.org so you can discuss your pregnancy with other people who you can relate to. This is a helpful way to make new friends and to help you see that you are not the only one going through this. Networking will not only help you find new ways to keep busy but it’s also a great way for you to help someone else by sharing your ways of keeping busy.
Stay in touch. Use whatever method is convenient for you. Try different things such as e-mail, yahoo or social networks like facebook as a means for the family to feel together. Skype, if you have the luxury of a laptop computer or talking through video messaging is great fun and really helps with those long trips away. It's terrific for keeping in touch with other family members, too.
